The American Legion Riders from Post 89, held a poker run Saturday afternoon that had nothing to do with cards. More than 80 bikes met at the post in Vestal and went for an almost three-hour ride. It was a chance for those who love motorcycles to get together, but also raise money so the American Legion can continue to help veterans throughout the year. “Pretty much needy veterans, and their …

Bodog Poker started business in 1994 as one of the original online gambling organizations. Founded by Calvin Ayre, it has become less of a poker room and more of a lifestyle. It is renowned for its sports betting, boxing, mixed martial arts, video game scene, brand licensing, casinos and various other endeavors. Bodog has been a part of various aspects of the entertainment world in one form or another throughout its life.

Bodog Poker has as its representatives two veteran poker professionals, David Williams and Evelyn Ng. They have been staunch supporters of Bodog throughout all its transformations over its lifetime. The Morris Mohawk Gaming Group is the licensing body and owner of its core product. The group is presently concentrating on promoting customer confidence, a pleasant environment and software that is second to none.

The Bodog Poker interface is given an attractive air of mystery with its black and gray shadowy borders. The platform is very extensive and can be downloaded rapidly and smoothly. A player has the option of playing up to four tables simultaneously to appeal to the most avid gamer. There is a preference tab in the upper right corner which can be used to move quickly among the various offerings and scan the resources effortlessly.

Right next to the preference tab is a quick seating feature that allows for easy software customization. Something rarely seen in online poker venues is a horse racing book that is a selection under the preference tab. Another nice feature is that the table settings and game details are very clear and easy to sort through. Whether your aim is to change felt colors or alter avatars, you can make the appearance of the cash games and tournament play here look like your very own design.

There is no player or count meter or view of the player pool, but on the poker homepage you will see a player count and expect it to reflect around six to ten thousand players. There are all the forms of holdem poker on Bodog Poker as well as Omaha, Omaha hi-lo, five card stud, seven card stud and seven card stud hi-lo. The site has a somewhat unusual starting blind format with low limits of $.02/.05 and upper limits of $30/60.

Add tournaments into the mix and you have a total gamete of card playing activities. Tournaments start in the Fleers double bubble gum range of a quarter with prize pool guarantees of up to 200,000.00 big ones and buy ins up to $200.00. With all the action on the site, bonuses are ripe for the taking.

Bonuses at Bodog Poker include both Royal flush and bad beat for all players, some lucky , some not so much. Poker points can be turned into cash which is a great Bodog feature and shows that they value their customers. Loyalty and diligence really pay off with promotions doling out double points. There are loads of daily freerolls, point buy in tournaments, sweet tournament prize overlays to attract any player looking for a good time and good winnings.

Bodog poker can reach out and touch fifteen countries with their international phone numbers making this a global organization. The company is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission which adds to its credibility and player confidence. Bodog Poker also has specialized brands in Europe and in Asia with such industry moguls as Haydock Sports, so there are enough resources to keep even the most persnickety customer happy. Support is deftly handled through forms and email. Axolotl Online Inc is responsible for website security and client privacy and with licensing associations with Patrik Selin, you can be sure Bodog is on top of support, resources and security for its large customer base.

The CEO is currently Alwyn Morris who is none other than an Olympic Gold medalist, Order of Canada recipient, noted Canadian sportsman, First Nations leader and former Associate Director for the Mohawk Council of Chiefs in Kahnawake. What a guy! It is apparent that Bodog Poker is in very capable hands to ensure its continued success. Bodog Poker is based in Antigua in the Caribbean, a paradise in itself and the players will find their own paradise on the website. Bodog Poker has been around and gaining in experience and expertise for 15 years which makes it motto “It’s better in our book” a true statement. Log onto paradise and have yourself an enjoyable experience.

While Crazy pineapple poker does bear some resemblance to Texas Hold’em, the much more familiar game, its peculiar rules and betting mechanics set it apart from this and any other of the poker variations. The variance is much higher to Pineapple because of the various potential hand combinations and the increased odds given by the extra card. If you have not encountered this interesting form of poker before, I entreat you to not involve yourself in a game without a thorough study of the rules and betting strategies, both by observing many games and reading the literature.

Crazy Pineapple Poker Format

To begin the game two players put forth a blind ante before the deal, which is similar to many other poker games. Once the antes are placed, the dealer gives each player three cards, a round of betting follows, then the flop, after which the dealer shows the table three community cards. Now comes betting round one which encompasses pretty standard rules after which the craziness begins giving this variation its name with its crazy labyrinth of strategies and moves. This is why one must be prepared to play the game before taking the plunge and making that first bet.

After the bet following the flop, players can trade in of the of the three hold cards in their hand, wherein the game resembles Texas Hold’em somewhat. This trade of the one card intensifies the complexity of the game and the players need to have a firm grasp on bluffing, pot sizes, and positioning. The format of the game again resembles Texas Hold’em after the second round of bets are placed – the best 5-card hand wins the round using the hole cards and community cards. There are more opportunities in Pineapple to make flushes, straights and three of a kind from the draw cards.

Some Angles to Employ in Crazy Pineapple Poker

Because of the unusual variations in Pineapple, those players experienced in calculating odds on the fly have a distinct advantage. There are many instances where several players remain active post flop in an effort to strengthen their hand on the trade-in. This is a also a fine chance to increase your bet when your hand is robust. It is also a common sight to observe most of the players get into the pot on up to the river, adding to their profit potential. By being both aggressive and patient after the turn, not an easy combination to pull off by the way, makes for a fine strategy to win pot after pot.

The most formidable opening hands are comprised of high suited card or high pairs that can morph into a flush or better hand with no sweat. Be aware that the high number of visible cards that can be put into play enriches the triumphant hands more so than regular hold’em so increase your hopes at the pot in accordance. The move to hold a pair into the flop can be a good one provide the board is not displaying a good sound chance of hitting a straight, flush or full house. The tactic of slow pay can work for you but aggression at the proper moment can throw your opponents for a loop. By varying your moves you can optimize the pot size whenever your hand is powerful. One way to mix it up is to semi-bluff and watch the pots come your way. In any case, don’t stick to one strategy and one method of play in Pineapple. Challenge yourself, stir it up, and make yourself some bucks in the meantime.

You may have seen some of the ads and come-ons for major casinos that provide perks and bonuses to their high rolling guests. These can be pretty tempting, and they may have you salivating as you consider what you could do with the free plays, bonus chips and other extras. The only trouble is that the casinos are far away and can involve a lot more financial outlay than you have available at the moment. Okay, maybe a trip to Atlantic City, Las Vegas or Monte Carlo isn?t in the stars for you just yet. Don’t worry, because you can still enjoy online gambling and take advantage of some of the best casino bonuses in the world.

Online casino action is taking the gambling industry by storm, and the different establishments are all vying with each other for your business. To make you become a loyal patron there are plenty of great casino bonuses being offered and the best thing about them is that they are free perks to thank you for playing. Now, come on, just how cool is it that you literally get paid to throw down at some of the top virtual gambling sites throughout the world.

Here is a list of some of the best casino bonuses that you can claim today:

No Deposit Bonus-this is a true freebie deal and is exactly what it says, ‘no deposit’. You are not required to deposit any kind of funds to try this bonus out on any games of your choosing.

Matching Bonus: This is where you will open an account, add some funds to your account and the casino will give you a matching bonus, dollar per dollar up to a predetermined amount. You could very well see your casino money double or even triple in size simply because of the bonus.

Monthly Casino Bonus: After signing up you are promised a certain amount of free chips to play with each month for as long as you continue to play on their site. This is a popular offer among many online casinos as they attempt to keep your business.

Percentage Bonus: This bonus is similar to the matching bonus with the exception that it is calculated to a percentage of your deposit amount. For example, if you deposited $100 dollars, you would receive $50 worth of free chips to play with.

The Cash Back Bonuses: While many people desire these bonuses, they are a little bit on the hard side to find. With the cash back bonus you will be repaid any monies that you lose during a specific time of play.

Refer A Friend: The referral program will add chips or money into your account each time someone signs up as a referral from you. Since you referring the online casino to your friends help their business, they in turn help you a little.

This online casino bonus article is brought to you courtesy of Inetbet.com

The traditional venues for playing poker, brick and mortar casinos and poker rooms, can be intimidating for new players. And casinos have also been reluctant to make adequate room for card rooms up until recently, because of the lower profits from poker. Casinos would make much more money if they replaced poker rooms with slot machines or other traditional casino games.

By contrast, online venues are dramatically cheaper because of the smaller overhead costs. Adding more tables costs an online poker room nothing and takes up no valuable space, but makes dozens of players who can sit at those new tables happy. This is how the online venues can let players sit at tables with such low stakes, going all the way down to 1/2, and offer promotions like freeroll tournaments (meaning no entry fee).

Major online poker sites offer features to attract new players. A common feature is the offering of satellite tournaments, in which the winner will gain entry to real-life poker tournaments. Chris Moneymaker, who won the 2003 World Series of Poker, won entry into that tournament through a satellite. The following year saw three times as many entrants into the WSOP. Four of the players at the 2004 final table won their seats through online cardrooms, and the winner, Greg Raymer, was one of those four.

The major online poker sites offer varying features to entice new players. One common feature is to offer tournaments called satellites by which the winners gain entry to real-life poker tournaments. It was through one such tournament on Poker Stars net that Chris Moneymaker won his entry to the 2003 World Series of Poker. He went on to win the main event, shocking the poker world. The 2004 World Series featured three times as many players as in 2003. At least four players in the WSOP final table won their entry through an online cardroom. Like Moneymaker, 2004 winner Greg Raymer also won his entry at the Poker Stars online cardroom.

October 2004 saw Sportingbet, then the world’s largest publicly traded online gaming company, announce the acquisition of Paradise Poker, one of the online poker industry’s first and largest cardrooms. The sale was for $340 million dollars and marked the first time an online cardroom was owned by a public company. Several cardroom parent companies have gone public since then.

In June 2005, PartyGaming, the parent company of the then largest online poker site, went public on the London Stock Exchange. It achieved an initial public offering market value over $8 billion. At the time of the IPO, 92% of PartyGaming’s income came from poker operations.

As of March 2008, there were less than forty stand-alone cardrooms and poker networks with real levels of traffic. There were more than 600 independed skins which group together and form the networks. As of January 2009 most online poker traffic occurs on just a few of the major networks and stand-alones, notable Poker Stars net, Full Tilt Poker, and the iPoker network. Most of the high stakes action takes place on Full Tilt, all top ten winning players from 2008 were on their site.

As of February 2010, there are about 550 online poker websites. 16 of those are stand-alone and the rest are skins that operate on 21 different networks, the largest being iPoker. Poker Stars net is now the world’s most highly trafficked online poker room.

The different Texas Hold Em Poker hands are exactly the same as normal poker hands. If you don’t know these don’t worry because I am going to explain them all. There are ten different hands that you can have. In order from worst to best, they are: low, 1 pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house, 4 of a kind, straight flush and royal flush. I will explain each of these in detail. The person with the highest hand wins.

When people talk about cards in text they will type the number of the card, and also a letter denoting the suit. H=hearts, D=diamonds, S=spades, C=clubs. Jack is J, Queen is Q, King is K and Ace is A. So for example a nine of clubs is 9C and a queen of hearts is QH. Some people put a hyphen ‘-’ in between, some not. For multiple cards in a hand some people will just use a space i.e. 7D 8D 9D 10D JD or some people will use a hyphen i.e. 7D-8D-9D-10D-JD. Sometimes people wont put anything and this is usually hard to read. It takes a little getting used to but you should be able to decode most peoples explanations with little effort.

Now for all of the Texas Hold Em Poker Hands:

Low: This hand is very bad. A low hand is essentially nothing. You have no good hands. An example would be 7D-5S-4C-3C-2H. Its nothing. Although for the most part this hand is very bad, if two people have a low hand the person with the single highest card wins.

1 Pair: This is the first hand you will usually make. A pair is having a single pair of a type of card. The number must match and obviously the suit won’t be able to. An example would be 2H-6H-10C-JC-JS. So in this example the player has a pair of jacks. When two more more players have a pair the person with the highest pair will win.

2 Pair: This is a fairly good hand you can usually get quite easily. 2 pair is just like have a pair two times. An example would be AC-7H-7D-QC-QH. So in this example the player has a pair of 7’s and a pair of Queen’s. When two players both have 2 pair the player with the single highest pair out of all of them wins. It doesn’t matter if his second pair is lower then the other players.

3 of a kind: This is a good hand that you can make quite easily if you start with a pair in the hole. This hand is simply having three cards all of the same, like JH-5S-8C-8S-8D. This player has three 8’s so has 3 of a kind. If multiple players have 3 of a kind the player with the highest wins.

Straight: Here we deviate from the standard number matching. A straight is any five consecutively numbered cards. It doesn’t matter what suit just the numbers must be consecutive. For example 7D-8H-9S-10C-JH. If more then one player has a straight the player with the highest overall card at the end of the straight wins. An Ace can be used as either a low ace, like 12345, or a high ace, like 10JQKA. It cannot be used in the middle. QKA23 is not a valid hand and would be considered a low hand.

Flush: A flush is simply any five cards with the same suit. It doesn’t matter the number of the cards they just all have to be the same suit. An example would be AS-2S-6S-JS-9S. See how they are all spades? That is a flush. If two or more players both have a flush the person with the highest overall card will win. So having just one Ace, King or Queen in your flush tends to pay off.

Full House: A full house is a 3 of a kind plus a pair. An example is KD-KH-3S-3C-3D. See the 3 of a kind of three’s and the pair of king’s. This hand is very good but harder to get. The more important numbered card is the one in the 3 of a kind. If there is a showdown the player with the higher number in their 3 of a kind will win.

4 of a kind: As the name suggests, this hand is having 4 of the same kind of card. Like QC-QD-QH-QS-10C. Four queens makes 4 of a kind. Like with all the other hands, if two players have a four of a kind the player with the highest numbered card in their 4 of a kind will win.

Straight Flush: This hand is extremely hard to get and is a combination of the straight and the flush. So the numbers of the cards must be consecutive and all the suits must be the same. James Bond wins with a straight flush in Casino Royal. An example is 4S-5S-6S-7S-8S. Consecutive numbers plus all spades. If more then one player has a straight flush the player with the highest numbered card on the end of their’s will win.

Royal Flush: This is just a straight flush but at the top end. Its essentially the highest straight flush you can get. Its the ultimate: 10H-JH-QH-KH-AH. Nothing beats this hand. This is the best hand you can get.

Still with me?

So I have explained all of the different Texas Hold Em Poker hands that you can get. I put them in order from worst to best. Of course, each better one beats any one under it. So a 3 of a kind beats a pair automatically, and a flush beats that easily. Take the time to read through them again to remember them better. Its worth memorizing these so you immediately know who has won a poker hand, without having to refer to anything. Always remember, when two people have the same hand the winner is the person with the highest overall card making that hand.

The game of 7-card stud poker goes back to the very beginning of traditional poker history and is today still a very popular game in casinos and at casual home poker parties as well. Its large following is attracted by its standard structure, familiar to all poker players. Seven card stud rules change slightly from place to place but all are played with a maximum of seven players – this is because of the seven cards dealt to each player and the 52 card make up of a standard deck of cards – and, too, during the course of a game, the dealer will burn four cards. There are less betting rounds than in other forms of poker causing many a house to instigate a rule to call a pre-flop compulsory bet, or ante, to promote both participation in hands and a more complex and challenging game.

If you play holdem exclusively, you will have to learn a new strategy to play 7-card stud. Any one new to the stud games should carefully observe games as they are played and learn well the rules and strategies of betting before even thinking of sitting at the table to play a round or two. Learning strategies of stud as well as other forms of poker will always add to the enjoyment (and profitability) of any form of the game.

A Description of Betting Rounds in 7-Card Stud Poker

To begin, three cards are dealt to each player with two of them face down and one face up. Betting occurs next starting in a clockwise direction with the highest scoring hand betting first ( the high hand here would be two aces, max). The cards are dealt face up in the following three rounds, with the River (last) card being dealt face down which segues to the best scoring 5-card hand showdown. Betting rounds are going on between each deal except in the Mississippi version where sometimes four rounds of betting occurs with the last two cards dealt at the same time.

The Workings of 7-Card Stud Strategy

All players must ante in most of the stud games while some go so far as to demand that the player with the lowest scoring hand in round one plays a “bring in” i.e., place a forced bet. Each player receives three cards, two up and the “bring in” player bets first. If there is a tie for the lowest hand, the suit becomes the tiebreaker. At this point the players can choose to bet, fold or raise to the limit the house allows.

Next up, another card is dealt followed by a betting round beginning with the holder of the best hand (by now it would be three aces). For all remaining rounds, it is the player with the highest scoring visible cards who may choose to either bet or check at the rounds onset. The final arrangement of the cards after all are dealt looks like this: two cards placed face down, two face up, and the last card in the arrangement is placed face down.

Similar to the games of holdem and Omaha poker, the player whose hand consists of the highest ranked cards or card combinations wins. There are no community cards in stud poker, which is unusual as is the fact that the hands have a few face-up cards. Beyond that difference, the card rankings are the same with the Royal Flush leading the way, followed by the straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, pair, with high cards at the low end of the ranking scale. Sound strategies will use the strength of your hand as the base, with the visible cards and betting schematics of your opponents as major components. Do not forget to get a sense of how rich the pot is.

Whenever you are playing Texas Hold Em Poker the hands you play can often depict whether you are one round away from being a massive winner or one round away from losing absolutely everything because in No Limit Texas Hold Em Poker, all your chips are at risk every single time you play a hand. The only exception to this is if your opponent has less chips then you of course.

In ever poker game you play your goal is to win the most chips possible. Your secondary goal is to lose the least amount of chips possible. You need to remember these goals when you are playing. You should always play good starting hands if you can. Since you usually aren’t dealt very good starting hands that often you should probably be folding most of the hands you get before seeing the flop. Generally speaking, the hands you want to stay in for are pockets of high pairs; so aces, kings and queens, or two premium cards like ace-king or king-queen, suited or unsuited. Depending on your position at the table you may be able to play a few different other hands.

The hands you can play and which ones you can’t will be greatly affected by your position in the betting sequence for that round. You will need progressively better hands the closer you get to the big blind. So in last position you will be able to get away with a much worse starting hand then if you were under the gun.

With all other things being equal, if you are in first or second position you only ever want to play exceptionally great hands, like a premium pair. If you are in one of the middle positions you can probably play any good pair and or two high cards headed by an ace or a king. When you are sitting on the button you can play practically any pair and also suited connectors. Remember though, you must be very careful and particular about what hands you play when you are the small or big blind.

So when you are playing any of the Texas Hold Em Poker hands you need to remember your primary goal. You are trying to win the most chips possible. Keep in mind your secondary goal; to lose the least chips possible. If you are playing very weak hands you may not be able to reach these goals. Generally you want to be playing only good starting hands. If you are on the button you can play slightly weaker hands and get away with it. The fact of the matter is, you just have to fold alot of cards waiting for the good hands.
